WITH BUILT-IN OIL PUMP: lubrication, cooling
The only seal which has an innovative oil pump, uses the rotation of the shaft as a turbine, without gears or moving parts.
1. Ensures a perfect self-lubrication of the seal, guaranteeing smooth operation, without any wear of the self-centring bearing, the special sealing rings and especially the propeller shaft. An internal distribution system ensures a perfect lubrication of all the vital parts: good durability.
2. The oil circulation also ensures a constant cooling of the SEAL, by way of a cooling oil-air exchanger, thus eliminating all the operational dangers of traditional systems of sea water pumping: safety is therefore absolute.
3. The TECHNOSYSTÈMES SEAL has a patented grease stage before the oil stage. In traditional oil seals, the absence of this protecting stage creates big problems of water contamination of the oil (water enter in the oil and the seal rings wear very quickly).
The reason is that the seal ring are watertight only direction. So, in traditional oil seals, there are two seal rings attached: one to keep the oil an the other to keep water. This solution is not sufficient to prevent this problem. In fact, the seal ring that is lubricated only by water wears in a short time and so water enter in the oil.
In TECHNOSYSTÈMES SEAL, the special grease eliminates the direct contact of sea water with the oil seal ring. The grease can't go away because the external water pressure keeps it in.
Anti-Vibrations System
In all the sealing units it's very important that the bearing could be perfectly floating on the propeller shaft. To absorb vibrations and misalignments, the traditional seals have to be connected to the stern tube by a rubber sleeve. The rubber sleeve has to be very extended to ensure the necessary flexibility; so this creates often problems of space in boats that have the engine very near to the stern tube. Moreover, for bigger propeller shafts is not possible to use a rubber sleeve to connect the seal: the rubber sleeve is too weak!. Our system by the mean of a incorporated double mechanical flexible joint doesn't need a rubber sleeve to be connected to the stern tube. Our seal can support each vibration and misalignments of the propeller shaft (until ± 2° and ± 2 mm). This is very important because now the engines are often fixed on elastic support, so this creates continuos movements of the shaft. The incorporated double mechanical flexible joint permit the TECHNOSYSTÈMES SEAL to be more compact than normal stuffing box (this is very important for a lot of ship yards which have the problems of space). Our system of connection to the stern tube is also the most reliable because it doesn't have to depend necessary to a rubber sleeve which can be broken whit its ageing. Our seal can be fixed directly in an existing stuffing box, or fixed to the stern tube (without rubber sleeve).
